Mashonda Dean is an American singer. She grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. She is best known for appearing on several songs from hip-hop artists in the 2000s. In 2005, she released her debut studio album, January Joy. She became a part of the first season of the reality show called Love & Hip Hop: New York in 2011.

Career

Mashonda Dean ( née Tifrere) signed a publishing deal with Warner Chapel Music in 1998 and later wrote for singer Monifah and worked with Full Force. In the coming year, she signed a recording contract with Columbia Records.
In 1999, she appeared on rapper Jay-Z’s single Girl’s Best Friend, for the soundtrack to the film Blue Streak (1999). Swizz Beatz produced the song and added it as a hidden track on Jay-Z’s fourth studio album Vol. 3… Life and Times of S. Carter. Her vocals starred on rapper Eve’s song Gotta Man, which Beatz produced, from her debut studio album Let There Be Eve…Ruff Ryders’ First Lady.
Mashona Dean made guest appearances on hip hop artist Cassidy’s Get No Better, Beatz produced, from his album Split Personality (2004), and rapper Fat Joe’s Beatz-produced song Listen Baby, from 2005 album All or Nothing.
Her other debut album January Joy, which Beatz, Kanye West, and Raphael Saadiq produced and released in November 2005 in Japan. Two singles supported the album, which Beatz co-wrote Back of da Club, featuring Beatz and Blackout starring Snoop Dogg.
In March 2009, she released The Renovation Series. She debuted her website and released two songs titled Intrigued and Catastrophe in February 2011. She is the writer of a column Pandora’s Box on VIBE Vixen and has written a book on co-parenting, titled Blend: The Secret to Co-Parenting and Creating a Balanced Family (2018).
