Sunil Varma Indukuri , popularly known as Sunil Varma, is an Indian actor and comedian, who mainly works in Telugu films. He is known for playing comic roles in Telugu films. In 2021, he was roped in the Telugu-language action drama film “Pushpa: The Rise” to play the role of a serious gangster named ‘Mangalam Seenu.’

Sunil Varma was born on Thursday, 28 February 1974 (age 48 years; as of 2022) in Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh. His zodiac sign is Pisces. Sunil was good at dancing since childhood. He grew up watching films of the popular actor Chiranjeevi and always wanted to dance like him. After completing his graduation, he enrolled himself in M.Com. However, he left the degree midway to work in films.

Parents & Siblings

Not much is known about his parents & siblings. Sunil’s father died when he was just five years old. After his father’s demise, his mother raised him single-handedly. He has one sister.

Career

Sunil started his acting career with the Telugu film ‘Second Hand.’ However, the film was stopped from production. He made his debut with the Telugu film ‘Nuvve Kavali’ (2000) in which he played the role of Sunil. He played uncredited roles in films like ‘Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi’ (1996), ‘Pape Naa Pranam’ (2000), and ‘Family Circus’ (2001). Next, he appeared in films like ‘Nuvvu Nenu’ (2001), ‘Sontham’ (2002), ‘Kalyana Ramudu’ (2003), ‘Love Today’ (2004), ‘Aarya’ (2004), and ‘Bhageeratha’ (2005). In 2006, he played the lead role of ‘Ramu’ in the Telugu film ‘Andala Ramudu.’ Subsequently, he starred in S. S. Rajamouli’s Maryada Ramanna, which was a commercial success.

 
In 2012, he played the lead role of ‘Ranga’ in the Telugu film ‘Poola Rangadu.’ The film was released across 450 theatres worldwide and was a huge hit.

In 2021, he played the role of ‘Mangalam Srinu’ in the Telugu-language action drama film “Pushpa: The Rise.” His role in the film was of a serious gangster, much different from the comedy roles that he usually plays.

Besides acting, he has also worked as a dubbing artist for a few actors. In 2012, he dubbed dialogues for the Tamil actor N. Santhanam in the Telugu version of the Tamil film ‘Oru Kal Oru Kannadi (OKOK).’ He has also worked as a dubbing artist for the Tamil actor Sathyan in the Telugu version of the Tamil film ‘Snehitudu’ (2012).

  • Sunil Varma likes travelling in his leisure time.
  • Sunil is an active philanthropist. In 2013, he celebrated his 39th birthday with the children of Devnar School for the Blind, Hyderabad. He also donated Rs. 2 lakh to the school. Talking to a news channel in an interview, Sunil’s personal assistant said,
    Sunil spent a few hours with the blind children of Devnar School this morning. He has been planning to meet them for a long time but couldn’t take out time from his schedule. Today, being his birthday, he finally met them and also donated Rs 2 lakh.”
    He further said,
    He is not keen on hosting a party. He will spend time with his family in the evening and await the release of his film tomorrow.”

  • In 2019, there were rumours on the internet about Sunil meeting with a fatal accident. However, Sunil rubbished all the rumours and wrote on his Instagram post that he was all fine.

  • While in college, Sunil moved to Vizag for the Navy selections. However, he faced rejection as he didn’t have 32 teeth.

    Right from my childhood, I was always fascinated by bodybuilders and food. During my college days, I used to be really fat, and never bothered to exercise. I just concentrated on eating. Jokes apart, I give credit to my trainer Khalil who is also my friend for transforming me. I began exercising and started eating fresh, boiled food. I have completely stopped eating processed food.”
