Story Line:
Gita (Tabu) lives in a big house with her husband, Naveen (Nawazuddin Siddiqui). Chandra (Amitabh Bacchan) is their son. However, Naveen and Gita also have another son – a child who has been brought to their home by a stranger who happens to be Valmiki (Murli Sharma), the poor servant whom they employ.
He had no other option but to gamble away his newborn child with a greedy moneylender in the hope that he would be able to at least feed his other children with the money. Unfortunately everything falls apart soon afterwards when the baby dies and Valmiki has lost everything. But due to his good nature, Bantu ever so often secretly contributes small amounts of money towards providing food for him and his family.
